The ability to effectively articulate our experiences, ideas, and inspirations directly impacts the health of our relationships, the achievement of our goals, and the success of our actions. Learn tools for effective communication, sharpen skills, find your unique voice and way, and put it all into practice for integration.

Effective communication is defined as the ability to communicate in a way that is received with the meaning intended. Finding our own unique way to be effective is where our personal style meets artistic expression. The more tools we have, the more resilient the bridges of connection we build will be.

This interactive course will share techniques and strategies to strengthen communication, while exploring the unspeakable truths within us that drive our motivations from the shadows, block deeper connection, and prevent us from fully engaging in our lives. Whether your goal is to have healthier relationships at home or in your professional life, The Art of Communication will offer insightful reflections, simple tools, and opportunities to apply them in your life.

Come learn strategies and tools drawn from Speaking the Unspeakable® with a rich interweaving of rhetorical studies, speech communication, debate, political advocacy, and dynamic life experience.

Week 1: Getting Intimate with the Unspeakable You Who are you? On the surface…at your core? Where do you lack the courage to be your fullest self in all moments? How does identity play out within us and in our collective? Together we will explore how we can bring greater presence and awareness into the interplay of identity and build the courage necessary to show up as who we are with the gifts we have to offer.

Week 2: Engaging with Truth & Power Communication is the external reflection of our internal world. What does it take to stand in our truth, fueled by the power within us, and engage others in ways that inspires greater connection and presence? How do we stay engaged when disagreement arises so that it strengthens bonds between people?

Week 3: The Art of Effective Communication There is an art to communication that when mastered, a world of possibility opens. This session will offer tools gained from the cross-training of rhetorical studies, speech communication, debate, political advocacy, and dynamic life experience.

Week 4: Communication Strategy Communication strategy is invaluable in understanding the options available to us in how we engage others. Learn the basic types of audiences and the right approach for each. Play with the element of surprise and the dynamics of power. Bring your inquisitive mind and get your strategy on.
